Most digital marketing strategies–from email marketing to social media–depend on your website to seal the deal. However, your website is now not only the center of your online marketing plan, it’s also crucial to your local marketing plan as well. Fully 97% of customers research local products and services online before making a purchase.* Therefore it’s important that your website represents your business well and does a great job of encouraging visitors to become customers. I use WordPress to build sites because it is a flexible system that allows me to get your website up and running quickly for less. It’s also very user-friendly, so after I build your website you can update it yourself! No need to pay for ongoing updates, unless you want to. I offer a variety of web design packages at different price points to suit your needs.
How it works
Building a website is a lot like building a house. You start with a good blueprint, build a foundation, and finally add the finishing touches. Throughout this process, I’ll be happy to make recommendations. However, this is your website and I’ll build it to your specifications. If you decide you’d like to build your website with nine2five creative, we’ll sign a contract outlining the terms of service, and you’ll make a down payment of 50 percent of the total cost. The remainder will be due when your website is finished. Let me walk you through the process of building a website so you’ll know what to expect.
Before I begin building your site, we’ll need a strategy. I’ll develop a web design plan, a kind of blueprint, based on information you provide. You’ll tell me about who your target audience is, your goals for the website, and the content and features you’d like. Then we’ll outline a plan you’re happy with. If you find that the web design package you originally chose doesn’t allow for all of the features you’d like, you’re welcome to upgrade for the difference in price with no additional fees for switching.
buying the property
Your domain name and hosting plan are your piece of real estate on the web. Your domain name is your unique address, and your hosting plan is like the piece of property you buy to build your house on. Just as you can’t build a house without a piece of property to build on, you can’t build a website without server space to host it on. This should be your property. Some web designers buy these things for you, and I could do that, but it would be like having my name on the title of your house. That’s why I won’t buy them for you. If you don’t know the first thing about registering a domain and buying a hosting plan, don’t worry. I can walk you through the process, step-by-step. (If my mother can do it, so can you.)
Once you’ve got your domain name and hosting plan, I’ll begin setting up your website. I’ll install WordPress, and suggest themes that match your business branding and are appropriate for the type of content you’ll be displaying. You’ll choose a theme that suits your taste, and I’ll lay the foundations. The theme that you choose will determine the style and layout of your website, so keep that in mind as you make your decision. Images and text can be changed, and often the framework and color scheme as well. For instance, where the navigation bar is, or whether the sidebar is on the right or left side, etc.
Now comes the fun part–decorating! With the foundations laid, it’s just a matter of adding your business information to your website. You’ll write the text and provide any other files you’d like to use, such as pictures, video or audio (as long as they are in compliance with copyright laws).
A custom-designed header comes included with every website package I offer. A header can be designed with or without a logo. If you don’t want to use a logo, I can create a simple header using text and a background photo or color. Copywriting, stock photos or graphics, and logo design are also available for an additional fee.
getting the keys
When your website is finished, and you’ve made your final payment, I’ll hand over the keys to your shiny new home on the web! You’ll get the WordPress login information for your website, as well as access to some handy tutorials that will show you how to make minor routine updates to your site. If you have a blog, you can start blogging right away!
Let’s get started!
